The last few days have
been good. Everything has been going our way. On Friday morning we
had a surf and then went and set up camp at camping again. (Pitch 202.)
We chilled for the rest of the day as it was mind-blowingly hot. We even had a swim in the camp pool which we had not been in yet after being there a month! It was a cool pool though. The pool sides were full of water. At the night we went and watched Caroline's band playing at a bar in Hossegor and they were really good. On Saturday we did some chores like washing, cleaning things, repairing the air bed etc.
We also cleaned out the car and I threw away the first 3 pairs of jandals form the trip (the yellow ones broke as well).
Then I wrote a list of all the camping things we had that we wanted to sell. We got our friend at the camp ice shop to translate it into French so we had a yellow English list and a green French list.
We then walked around all the campsites that had people there and tried to sell our stuff. The chairs went first followed by tent and the plastic containers. Next was the brush and shovel and lantern followed by the air bed pump. And lastly we sold the air bed. We still had a few things left but it was a good start. We had said we would sell everything for 80 Euro and we had already made 70 Euro. Then someone bought the sleeping bag for 5 so we were up to 75. It was 9pm by that stage so we went for a surf and I had another really good surf and caught lots of waves and did some really nice sharp turns. We surfed until dark again. In the morning the guy who got the tent and containers bought the soccer ball (which I had forgotten to put on the list) for 2 Euro so that bought us up to 77.

After signing out of
camping we headed down to the car park at Le Penon to hit up the
camper-vaners and we managed to sell the cooker and chillybin
bringing our earnings up to a grand total of 95 Euro. We only have
the plates, cutlery, pots and pans left now. We realised we probably
would have sold them if we put them on the list separately. But never
mind. We might just give them to charity or put a sign up saying
“free/gratuit” at the hostel.
So after selling the gear
and checking the surf (not worth the paddle) and having a chat to
some Itallians, we set off for Tours where we planned to stay the
night. Back up France we drove, past fields of Sunflowers who on our
last trip perkily gazed at the sun but on this journey hung their
seed laden heads, looking tired. We shared the driving and it was a
pretty uneventful trip. We arrived at Formula 1, ate tea, and geeked
it up on the net on the fast internet, then read before bed.
This morning we sorted the
car out for the (probably) last time and set off again. We stopped
briefly to look at a chateau
and then drove on,
past cat power lines,
We chose this hostel because they said that we could store our boards here for free while we are in Greece (we stay here when we return too). We have one room mate so far (we are in a four bed dorm) but we haven't met them yet. Steve has been a little bit sick with a cold so we are going to find him some medicine when he wakes up from his nap and then after tea visit the Eiffel Tower.
past cat power lines,
through toll booths,
to Paris,
where we
thought it would be tricky to find the hostel we had chosen and even
trickier to find a park. We were also expecting to have to pay 24
Euro for a park for the night. Happily though things were still going
our way. We found the hostel as easy as can be with a park just down
the street and when we tried to pay for the parking that normal had a
2 hour max time limit we found that you can park there as long as you
like and for free because it is August. Awesome. The hostel is really
nice too. Clean and the beds are comfy. We chose this hostel because they said that we could store our boards here for free while we are in Greece (we stay here when we return too).
