Another day in Bali.

Written 11th September 2012

I forgot to write something funny that happened yesterday. When we were sitting in the cafe yesterday after lunch and watching the surf one of the massage ladies gave Dean a fright. They sort of sneak up on you with silent feet and put their hands on your shoulders and start massaging you and croon "Massaaaage? Very gooood. Good price for yoouu. You need massssaaaage. Tired muscles. Massage - yes?" All the while massaging away as you either say "No thank you." Until they leave you alone or start bartering the price. Steve and I have had one each so far - back and legs for 50 000 IDR. But any way, one of these old massage ladies snuck up on Dean, put her hand on his shoulder (startling him) and at the same time starting the spiel, "Massssaaaaaage?" In response to the fright and then the croon he says "Shit! No." And you should have seen her reaction. It was so funny! She was affronted. And kept saying, "You bad man!" to Dean while we were all cracking up. Poor lady. Haha. She went off down the steps still grumbling "Bad man!"

Any how. This morning Steve and I watched Dean and Adam surfing at Bingin while we ate breakfast. (Mango pancake and freshly made juice containing banana, pineapple, and papaya. Yum! My favorite!) Then had a relax

before helping them take some of their gear up to the car park

and saying goodbye as they were going back to Kuta so they could catch the plane back tomorrow morning.

After that we went on a mission to take some photos and find a scooter.

This is the toll lady. You can go down  different road to avoid her though.

Effective No Parking sign... If you try you will be decapitated by rusty barbed wire!

Oh and we saw this classic as Indonesian Ice cream man!

Roosters in basket cages.

Pretty flowers.

We got a pink slightly dodgy scooter.

Scooters are family transport here.

We finally got a scooter. Pink and a bit dodgy.

Then we retrieved our surfboards from down at the beach. But on the way Steve helped a damsel in distress by carrying her massive suitcase down all the steps for her.

After that a cold drink was in order before we went back up all those steps.

Then we attached the boards to the scooter and headed off to find some medicine for Steve as he has had really bad indigestion or something similar for days. Eventually I spotted a place (the sign said something like Apotik which looked a bit like apothecary to me). Oh yeah - totally off subject but sort of funny - most of the taxis here have a sign that says Taksi. :)
Anyhow, so we got some medicine then went and got a yum as feed from an organic cafe. I had chicken and mango salad. YUMMMM! Then we putted on to Uluwatu for another surf. I didn't have such a good surf today and neither did Steve. It was really crowded. The first wave I got my board got thrown into the back of my leads really hard fins first. I thought they cut me at first but luckily I wasn't. Feels like it will be a good bruise though. Ah well. I got a good one after that though which made up for it. We weren't the last two in the water tonight like last night. But still surfed till after the fluro orange of the sunset had faded from the inky sea.

We buzzed back and had dinner - chicken and bacon baguette and coconut milkshake. Mmmm. (After negotiating the steep and uneven steps in the dark for the third time.)

Continued 12th September 2012

This morning we headed out for a surf at Impossibles. It lived up to it's name though and way not too good. And soon it will be time to go and hunt out some lunch! Hopefully the day will end with me winning Big Wednesday and I will never have to go back to work again! :)
