Day 2 in Paris.

The next morning we went for a walk to get our breakfast and I took a picture of this sign cause it cracked me up.

Don't you think the dog looks so French! Paris is quite dirty and stinky (lots of places smell like wee). There was more rubbish than we are used to. But it was also very beautiful in places. The building in most of Paris are so old and full of character, they are lovely to look at. Anyway, we were a bit colder that morning because it was not sunny. It was cloudy but not like it is cloudy at home. It was kind of like a foggy haze rater than cloud. Our first stop was Passage Jouffroy to look at 2 miniature shops that Yolanda had told me about.

I was super excited when we got there and found it because it was in these covered walkways that I had wanted to visit and I didn't realise that it was the same place. They were built in the early 19th Century to protect well-off customers from yucky weather.

I was so excited to get to visit 2 miniature shops because there are none anywhere near where we live. Poor Steve waited patiently as I admired everything and decided what to buy. It was tricky to choose cause I didn't want to choose anything that might get broken in my bag and also nothing that would take up too much room. I was very taken with a little metal table and chairs but in the end settled on an adorable little tea set, a basket and a mini pet bed.

We were hungry again so we tried a French lunch of Flam which was like a really thin pizza and a salad too. Next we set off on the Metro again to Montmatre. We had a look at the Sacre Ceur Basilica.

There is a lovely view of the city from up there but unfortunately the cloud/fog/smog was obscuring much of the view.

We went inside the church and as you enter there is one guy who's job it is to shush people as they enter! Imagine doing that all day long! It was a cool church too but not as inpressive as the Notre Dam. Of course we were also much colder so standing around outside was not that desirable. After having a bit of a nosy we strolled through the alleyways and saw all the artists painting portraits of people. They were all very talented. I enjoyed walking through that part of town and admiring the cool old houses.

We found our way back to the metro and managed to make our way to the Arc de Triomph. We were getting very cold. I could hear people commenting on our “flip-flops” and our toes really were getting rather icy. There seamed like something was going to happen at the Arc de Triomph when we arrived so we thought we would wait around and see. An hour later the band played and flowers were brought to the unnamed soldier who lies beneath the arc.

We were too cold to be too impressed and went to get tea in a restaurant near the Eiffel Tower. We were so cold we just wanted to get out of the wind. The dinner was yummy and warmed us considerably. We had roast chicken but it was no where near as good as Leanne's roasts. (But her's would be pretty hard to beat I recon.)

We walked towards the Eiffel Tower after tea so we could watch it's lights turn on. It looked so pretty.

We stayed and admired it for a while until we thought we may freeze on the spot before heading back to camp skank-a-lot.
