A shark feeding frenzy.

The next morning we went to check the surf at Lennox head but it was terrible so we went to have a look at the lighthouse.

It is on the most eastern point of Australia. So that means we have been to both the most eastern point of New Zealand and the most eastern point of Australia this year. And looked at both their light houses. On the way to the lighthouse we admired some dolphins playing in the waves.

The light house was cool and had some interesting things to look at in it's little museum. We talked to a man about the different kinds of whales and dolphins that are seen in the waters.

This is the view looking back towards Byron Bay.

Then we walked down to the most eastern point and admired the view.

There was a guy swimming in the clear turquoise sea and I was feeling hot and wishing I could be in there too when I saw a big dark blob in the water near him. I pointed it out to Steve and he said it was a big meat ball of fish. Then dark shapes in the water converged on it and we saw a swirl of pointy black fins and tails. It was sharks gobbling up the little fishies in the meatball.

The man that was swimming noticed the commotion in the ocean and jumped out of the water onto a rock.

We watched it for ages, it was fascinating to see in the beautiful clear water.

Can you see the shark coming towards the ball of fish from the right?

We spotted a little lizard too.

When we walked back up to the light house we saw more dolphins. There were SO many of them and they we all surfing the waves. Heaps of them would surf the wave and then follow on in a circle then leap up through the back of the wave and do flips. They were so graceful and beautiful to watch.

Next we went down to the beach just north of Byron Bay to have a picnic and go for a swim to cool off. It was blissful.

Then we drove back to Dad's house and had fun chatting over a nice tea with Dad and two of his old friends Robin and Graham. They cooked a delicious chicken salad yum yum!

Love Amy.
