A Cog Railway up a Mountain.

Sunday woke up as another beautiful sunny morning.
We all enjoyed another delicious breakfast at Lisa and Peter's house.

And then got ready to go on another Austrian adventure. This time to a lake called Wolfgangsee and Schafburg (Sheep Mountain), to go on the cog railway.

The trains were really cute. Like something from Tomas the Tank Engine. The little red engine pushes the carriages up the mountainside.

There were stunning views all around as the train clicked and cluncked it's way to the top.

This was the train we went up on.

And this was our driver.

SchafbergBahn means Sheep Mountain Trainway.

The views from the top were so beautiful in every direction.

We have both been enjoying spending time in the mountains and other beautiful outdoor places.

Steve was ready to search for deer again with the help of Peter's binoculars.

It;s been so fun hanging out with Lisa and Peter. It's really cool seeing a place with people who know all about the area. It adds another dimension of enjoyment to the experience. Thanks Lisa and Peter for an awesome time!!!

I was proud because I asked a man in German if he could take a photo of us all with the lake in it too and he did a really good job don't you think!

Peter began searching for animals too.

And he spotted some too. Some Shammies. And then Steve saw a Red Deer too.
I even had a turn at looking.

It's such a drop off!

Pretty Lisa!

The hunters were still looking for more animals.

Here is a little snow lake.

Still hunting. Steve has been having a great time talking to Peter about hunting in Austria because he is a wealth of knowledge.

Then we shared another Austria dish called Kaiserschmarren (Emporer's cakes.) It is like really fat fluffy pancake broken up and you dip it in stewed plums! YUMMMM!

Not a bad place to enjoy a yummy meal!

Then we walked out to the cross that is on the top of the mountain. Because the day before we were discussion how  many of the mountains have a cross on top. And Peter was telling us that mary of the crosses have a stamp that you can collect for the alpine club.
The sign says Heaven's Gate. That is where the hikers come through if they climb up the mountain.

Here is Steve looking down the track you can walk up.

We hurried back to the train because we were going down on the last one.

The hut says Haus Schafbergspitze. (Sheep Mountaintop House.)

This is what the cog railway looks like.

On the way down we spotted MORE deer! So cool! The deer around here are mostly Roe Deer but there are some Red Deer too. In the end they spotted 6 shammies, 2 red deer, and 2 roe deer.

This is the crest of the old Austrian Emperor in the train.

And the trains had a cool window system. The belt-type bit adjusts how high or low the window goes.

At the bottom we visited the little village of Sankt Wolfgang (Saint Wolfgang.) It had really cute Austrian buildings.

And cool sign thingines. I thought you might like this one Rachael. :)

And this one is for Steve, Peter, Malcolm, and Tim.

This one is a pretzel.

I liked this shop that had cute little cars, dolls, and Christmas stuff.

As we were walking along we heard some people playing traditional Austrian music.

How cute is this sign!

More cute signs!

This one says "Authorised photographer."

This one says "Here we live with our employes."

And there have been quite a few people wearing traditional Austrian clothing as well. Lisa said that mostly people were it for special occasions but now young people wear them fashionably too and they come with shorter skirts and in different fabrics and popular colours. You can see the girls in this photo are wearing some.

We headed home for another relaxing evening together.
Thanks for another great day in Austria Lisa and Peter! xoxo

Auf Wiedersehen Liebe Amy!
(Goodbye, Love Amy.)
