Wishing on Things, Rowing, Rain, and Rafting.

We have been having a nice time in Bled.

Yesterday we had a sleep in because it was raining like a mad thing. For lunch we tried the famous cake from here. It is a bit like a custard square but it has a layer of cream too. I think Tim you would like it. :)

We decided to walk around the lake and admired the sights on the way. Water droplets were clinging to everything. It was cold but fresh in a rain washed way and still as.

We spotted a duck having a sit on a submerged pole.

Here is Steve and the castle in the background.

Isn't it so beautiful and clear!

There is an island in the middle of the lake. On the island is a little church. If you ring the bell in the church three times you can make a wish.

We tried out our new running shoes. Steve loves to be matching.

So pretty!

These are the boats you can get rowed out to the island on. But we wanted to row ourselves.

There was a  wishing rock too. So we threw in our 2 cents worth.

We saw some cute baby ducks.

And some awesome swan boats. I really wanted to go in these but there was no one there to hire them off because it was raining.

When we got back to the hostel we are staying at (called Jazz hostel) we met a really cool chick who's from New Zealand too (called Rachael.) We taught her how to play 500 and shared our tea with her. Then we all went us to the castle at 8pm because it is free then.

It was pretty cool. But SUPER foggy!

This is the view looking down. The lake is way below through the fog.

On the way back we bought yummy cakes. (This is my one. And Rachael had the same kind - it was filled with a kind of chocolate mousse.)

And ate them for dessert. Mmmm.

This morning we all went for a walk again to try and hire a boat to row to the island.

I was gutted because I wanted to go in the swan boats but there was no one there again because of the rain. I pouted and Steve called me a big kid. But those swan boats are so cool! We hired a normal cute boat and Steve rowed us out to the island in the rain to make a wish on the wishing bell.

Here is the church.

And here are the instructions on how to ring the bell.
Looks simple.

"I can't here the bell ringing." (Me.)
"Pull harder." (Steve.)
"I am." (Me laughing.)
But it had a delayed reaction and it did ring eventually.

The bell rang immediately for Steve. As Jeff and A.J. would say, "All that is Man!"

Steve is stoked because he loves wishing bells in churches. :)

There was a cute exhibition there of the traditional costumes of European countries made of clay.

They wore different costumes in different regions in Slovenia and there were example of each.

Good bye cute wishing bell church.

I rowed back.

Steve was hassling me because I kept going in the wrong direction... but I was just giving them longer to admire the scenery of course! :)

We had to speed walk back so we could make it back in time to go rafting.

We went with the Fun Rafting company. The guides were nice and funny. They kept plotting in Slovene how to bump us into rocks and stuff. The rafting was fun but it wasn't very scary.

There were a few rocks to watch out for... or get steered into!

They didn't manage to bump us out but we jumped in the water for a bit of a float and it was freezing!

We were definitely refreshed though!

So, it's been a pretty fun few days and we have had a bit of exercise and done some fun activities, and wished on a bell and a rock, so it's been pretty good.

I'd tell you how to say bye in Slovene but I'm not sure myself!

See ya! Love Amy.
